We empower individuals and the families with knowledge to give a brief understanding of substance abuse disorder and addiction. We aim to spread awareness regarding the opioid epidemic leading to sky-high rate of overdose death and we provide strategies to individuals and families to fight against substance abuse

Injury Epidemiology From 1980-2011, annual drug overdose mortality increased from 2.7 to 13.2 deaths per 100,000 population. the projected drug overdose mortality would peak in 2016-2017 at 16.1 deaths per 100,000. During 2015 drug overdose accounted for 52,404 US deaths (Dec 30 2016 weekly morbidity and mortality weekly report).

Opioid addiction is a 50-state epidemic in the US. It cuts across ruraland urban, inner cities and affluent communities in the form of cheapsmuggled heroin and flows out of “pill mill” clinics where pain medicine is handed out like candy. In 2015, for the first time, deaths from heroin alone surpassed gun homosides.
